Phishing attacks were the most common cyber-attacks in Romania in 2020, representing 32 percent of the total identified, according to data from Orange’s Business Internet Security (BIS) platform. Covid-19 was the subject in most phishing attacks, the same data shows.
Ransomware attacks were second in the classification, representing 28 percent of the total, and mostly targeted public authorities.
The capital Bucharest recorded the highest number of blocked attacks, with a monthly average of 450,000, followed by Iasi and Timisoara, with 360,000 and 350,000 attacks respectively on average in the last year.
Orange said the study is based on 5 million threats detected and blocked every month.
